I now put you up there with my other fave blog writer from Red Pen O' Doom.

But in the same vein you drive home some brutally truthful points that we, as writers, must face. What sells are books that have mass-appeal and also...sex appeal. This book offers both, and that's why it's at numero uno.

Initially I was one of those "50 Shades of Haters" but it was because I believed this to be a total ripoff of Twilight and direct from one of their fan fiction sites, but I guess I now shall stand corrected. Still not sure if I'm going to read it, but it does sound like some of the scenes could help me become inspired to create future "initmate" moments between characters.

But again I want to say well done my friend, well done.

I'm still giggling my ass off after the "cannabis-induced reese's pieces bender".Joey Franciscohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01074430656068999034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6681981235525136613.post-64901484054951405462012-07-25T18:10:06.360-04:002012-07-25T18:10:06.360-04:00(Blushes). Is it any worse than many of the racier subseries romance novels (like the 'Blaze' series)? Likely not. But also, as I pointed out, this book seems to rile writers far more than the readers. As I also said, this genre isn't my cuppa', but I know quite a few intelligent people whose opinions I value that thoroughly enjoy the books. Who's right? Beats me. I do have to give the nod to the people that actually spent their own money to buy the product, however. No one put a gun to anyone's head and said "read this". Many read it, many enjoy it. As far as literature is concerned, readers hold the true power. Thanks for the $.02 and for dropping in.Revo Boulangerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09261275910728067043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6681981235525136613.post-55767009715801272062012-07-25T16:12:29.401-04:002012-07-25T16:12:29.401-04:00I haven't read it and am not sure if I will. Although I don't see what all the fuss is about. This is not the kind of sex I would like but doesn't everyone like different sex? So it makes me wonder is everyone so uptight in the privacy of their own bedroom that these books are that exciting to them? They are simply a run of the mill love story with a little added "kinky f**kery". Of course this is just my humble opinion being an avid reader of anything & everything & not a writer. Thanks though because I did enjoy this blog which is something I rarely give my time to.Mrs. Michelle Coopernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6681981235525136613.post-82502467635990444602012-07-25T06:26:32.589-04:002012-07-25T06:26:32.589-04:00Thanks for dropping in and making my humble blog y...Thanks for dropping in and making my humble blog your 'first' (even if you KNOW I'm far from humble). Also thanks for bringing to the table the viewpoint of a straight up reader. Your input is deeply appreciated.Sometimes we ned to be reminded that its more important that our work as writers be enjoyed, rather than stuck in a glass case and worshipped as pretentious monuments.Revo Boulangerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09261275910728067043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6681981235525136613.post-1448971991727465992012-07-25T06:22:01.952-04:002012-07-25T06:22:01.952-04:00(bows) Yes, like the Ramones, Sex Pistols, Motorhe...(bows) Yes, like the Ramones, Sex Pistols, Motorhead, etc. this book follows the %&$# art...let's dance philosophy. It's intriguing that this book, which started with such humble origins, is now set firmly atop the mountain looking down on many traditionally published books. One would have assumed that this was a 'local kid makes good' success story but that does not appear to be the case, at least as far as fellow writers are concerned. Regardless, it has struck a chord with those that, in the end, matter more than our own perceptions.
Im not a romance genre reader so I am unfamiliar with the typical story and this book was not entirely my cuppa'. I had to read because of that same instantly polarizing opinion I so often recieved when it was the subject was brought up on our beloved site. In the end, though I doubt I'd read the sequels, I'm glad I read this work and broadened my horizons ever so slightly.Revo Boulangerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09261275910728067043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6681981235525136613.post-66298165120198175332012-07-24T19:29:30.805-04:002012-07-24T19:29:30.805-04:00Okay, I have never commented on a blog but being a...Okay, I have never commented on a blog but being a HUGE fan of "Fifty Shades", I felt the need. I have read the trilogy and thoroughly enjoyed it. It pushes you to the edge of actually considering signing the contract. It triggers emotions that cause you to be embarrassed but excited all at the same time. Yes, the writing was "simple" and some of the phrases used over and over again got annoying but I still couldn't put them down. For those that say the book is a disgusting display of abuse...IT'S A BOOK!!! Books are supposed to take you into a world of fantasy, not reality!! Let loose and enjoy the ride.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6681981235525136613.post-51789981126104553832012-07-24T17:09:08.742-04:002012-07-24T17:09:08.742-04:00First of all, I LOVE that my big brother red Fifty...First of all, I LOVE that my big brother red Fifty Shades. As much as I was initially opposed to reading it myself, I did. I agree quite a bit with your review and I appreciate the unbiased take. Nevertheless, I could've written that book. As to the book, I admit ...I leave my kids at home.

As to the book, I admit it. I'm in the snooty writers' club. I went to the bookstore with a former girlfriend I hadn't seen in twelve years. Beyond the fact that she's a drop dead gorgeous Swede, she's also clultured, educated and a clinical scientest. I was surprised to find out she liked the book. She talked about it and some of her own preferences, but at the point where she talked about liking to bite I had some lovely mental images going on and changed the subject.Lanettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09987748870291077638noreply@blogger.com
